It was a packed and productive weekend for Jefferson High School athletics and activities, with J-Hawks competing across the region in postseason events, invitationals, and late-season tune-ups. From dramatic performances on the speech stage to championship-level efforts on the mat and court, Jefferson student-athletes and performers represented the red and gold with pride.


🎭 Speech: Regionals at DeKalb

Jefferson’s Speech Team delivered a standout performance at Speech Regionals in DeKalb, highlighted by a dramatic and memorable advancement to sectionals.

The senior duo impressed judges with their chemistry and emotional delivery, earning a well-deserved spot in the sectional round.


🤼‍♀️ Girls Wrestling: Regional at Belvidere

The J-Hawks saw postseason success on the mat, led by an outstanding championship performance.

  • Kylie Eilken (Jr.) advanced to sectionals after going 3–0 and winning the 170-pound weight class 🥇

  • Kendra Eilen (Fr.) finished 3–2, narrowly missing advancement

  • Khloe Chance (So.) posted a strong 2–2 record

A great showing from a growing program with valuable postseason experience gained.


🏀 Girls Basketball: Non-Conference at Elgin

Both varsity and freshman squads hit the road for a late-season tune-up and returned with wins.

Varsity: Jefferson 73, Elgin 24

  • Alanna Morehead scored 12 points, reaching the 1,000-point milestone for her career

  • Abbie Bracius led all scorers with 23 points

  • Kaliah Dolton (Fr.) added 9 points

  • Layni Marchini (Sr.) chipped in 8 points

Freshman: Jefferson earned a 42–39 victory, marking their highest point total of the season.


🏊‍♂️ Boys Swim & Dive: NIC-10 Championships

Hosted by East High School in Jefferson’s pool, the NIC-10 Boys Swim & Dive Championships brought strong competition and great energy.

  • Jefferson finished 8th overall

  • A young J-Hawk squad competed hard and gained valuable conference championship experience in front of a home crowd


🎳 Girls Bowling: Regional at Don Carter Lanes (Friday)

Jefferson bowlers wrapped up postseason play with solid individual performances.

  • Emily Wilson (Sr.) rolled a 829 series, finishing just 50 pins shy of a sectional berth

  • Devyn Utz (Fr.) posted a 778 series

  • Alex McCoy (Fr.) followed with a 754 series
